From Courtrooms to Data Models: My Transition into Business Analysis

For years, my career revolved around the legal system—analyzing cases, managing teams, and making high-stakes decisions. Later, my experience in digital marketing added a new dimension, allowing me to work with data-driven campaigns and strategic optimization. But through it all, one thing remained constant: my passion for making processes more efficient and effective. That passion led me to business analysis, where I could combine my analytical mindset with my ability to streamline operations and drive data-based decision-making.

Bringing Business Analysis to the District Attorney’s Office

My first real experience with business analysis came while serving as District Attorney. Managing a large team and a high caseload, I saw firsthand how outdated systems slowed productivity. I spearheaded an initiative to transition the office to a paperless system—analyzing workflows, interviewing stakeholders, and mapping out a digital transformation strategy. By assessing how processes worked and finding ways to replicate them digitally, I was able to make our office more efficient. Once implemented, I continued refining the system, making incremental improvements based on performance feedback.

The Power of Data-Driven Decision Making

My transition into digital marketing reinforced the importance of leveraging data to optimize strategies. I built Google Ads campaigns, conducted keyword research, and analyzed performance metrics to drive lead generation. The ability to extract meaningful insights from large datasets became one of my biggest strengths. I found fulfillment in taking complex information, distilling it into core elements, and presenting it in a way that stakeholders could easily understand and act upon.

A Focus on Marketing, Finance, and Operations

As I move forward in business analysis, I am particularly drawn to marketing data, financial data, and operational insights. Each of these areas presents unique opportunities to uncover trends, optimize processes, and drive strategic decisions. My background in law and digital strategy gives me a unique perspective on how data can be used not just for performance improvement, but also for risk assessment and compliance.

Building My Technical Skills

While my strength lies in translating data into actionable insights, I am continuously working to refine my technical skills in data gathering and presentation. Tools like SQL, Excel, Tableau, and Google Analytics are essential in a data-driven environment, and I am committed to mastering them to further enhance my ability to provide meaningful business recommendations.

Looking Ahead

Business analysis is the perfect convergence of my experience and interests—combining my analytical mindset, strategic thinking, and ability to optimize processes. Whether it’s improving efficiency in legal operations, driving performance in marketing campaigns, or uncovering insights in financial data, I am excited for the opportunities ahead. My journey into business analysis is just beginning, but the foundation I’ve built through years of leadership, problem-solving, and data interpretation will serve me well as I take this next step.
